WILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio (WOIO) - A 55-year-old Tacoma, Washington man died Wednesday after losing control of his car and crashing into a wooded area off the highway.

Willoughby Hills police said several people called 911 around 9 p.m. after seeing the driver go off the road in the area of the I-90 east spur and I-271 south.

Police located the car flipped on its top at the bottom of a ravine.

“The vehicle had traveled a considerable distance into a heavily wooded area, making access and rescue operations challenging,” posted police on Facebook.

The driver was trapped inside.

After being extricated of the vehicle, EMS transported him to Hillcrest Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police have not yet released the driver’s name and said the crash remains under investigation.
