WILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio — A 55-year-old Washington state man died Wednesday night after his vehicle veered off the Interstate 90 east spur and plunged into a wooded ravine, according to the Willoughby Hills Police Department.
Officers were called around 9 p.m. after several 911 callers reported that a vehicle had left the roadway on the ramp connecting I-90 East to I-271 South. When officers arrived, they found an overturned 2018 Lexus deep in a heavily wooded area, police said.
“The vehicle had traveled a considerable distance into a heavily wooded area, making access and rescue operations challenging,” police said in a press release.
Willoughby Hills firefighters extricated the man and transported him to Hillcrest Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
