As we head into the weekend we get a break from the chilly temperatures over this past week. The winds start to pick up on Saturday, with breezy south winds by the mid to late afternoon.

With that, temperatures get a nice boost as well with highs returning to the 50s and 60s after many of us were in the 40s multiple days this past week.

For rain chances, some showers start off Friday evening in the Red River Valley but progress to the south east for Saturday. This results in areas of showers for central and southern Minnesota.

Heading into Sunday the rain moves out of Minnesota but cloudy skies remain over the entire region.

The wind picks up as well, with gusts up to 30-40 mph at times. The peak of the winds will be in the afternoon.

Temperatures continue to stay mild thanks to this
