SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Returning for its third year, Thursday night’s trash or treat event offers early Halloween fun and a valuable lesson for the holiday season.
It’s an environmental extravaganza featuring city leaders from public works, water management, sewer management, and recycling, who show families the sustainable practices and processes behind keeping the city clean and green.
“Around this time of year,” said Kristen Milam with the city of Springfield, “it’s really important as we get into the holidays because our waste goes way, way up in our households. We’re having parties, we’re eating those single-use snacks. Now is the time, really, to hit people with that message of hey, there are ways to make better sustainable choices.
