CANTON — A Cleveland Browns legend remains in the mix for the Pro Football Hall of Fame ’s Class of 2026.
Following a second reduction vote of candidates in the seniors category , 34 former players remain under consideration for the next class, including former Browns linebacker Clay Matthews .
Members of the Hall of Fame ’s seniors committee produced this list of 34 from the 52 names they had received after a screening committee cast the initial ballots in the selection process. The process began with 162 former players nominated for election and screened in the opening round of voting.
Matthews played 278 NFL regular-season games, including 232 games for Cleveland from 1978-93. With the Browns, he played in an additional 10 playoff games during their seven playoff season
