Five people, including an infant, were transported to hospital following a six-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Kingston.

According to the Frontenac OPP, officers were called to the scene on the eastbound lanes near Sydenham Road just before 8:00 a.m. on Oct. 22.

Frontenac Paramedics and Kingston Fire Department also responded to the crash.

Police said one driver initially lost control of their vehicle, resulting in a chain reaction collision, involving five passenger vehicles and a tractor trailer.

The five people transported to hospital had either minor injuries or were being checked out as a precaution.

While the highway remained open, there were temporary lane closures in place.

The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
