MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WKRG) — Dozens gathered outside the state capitol Wednesday to protest the execution of Anthony Boyd.
Boyd is set to be executed by nitrogen gas later today at Holman Prison near Atmore for the 1993 burning death of a man in Talladega County.
Protesters called on Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey to commute his sentence, and delivered a petition to her office protesting the execution.
The 54-year-old has been on death row since 1995, after being convicted of capital murder during a kidnapping. The jury that convicted him voted 10-2 that he receive a death sentence for his role in the death of Gregory Huguley.
