WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — Airline passengers will have fewer options when traveling through Bradley International Airport. Avelo has announced it will be ending service out of the Windsor Locks-based airport shortly after the new year.
The company confirmed in a statement on Thursday that it would end its direct flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica on Jan. 25, 2025. Flights to Cancun, Mexico would end on Jan. 3, and flights to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic would end on Jan. 5. The company said they were making the decision due to "multiple business factors."
In a harshly worded statement, the Connecticut Airport Authority took Avelo to task for what it calls "misrepresenting facts and trying to dodge reasonable fees" among other things, following the decision.
