Thursday night will be the coldest night of the season so far this fall. Temperatures will dip well into the 30s, with some areas dropping below freezing by sunrise Friday.
Much of Kentucky experienced 30s for lows Wednesday night and Thursday morning, producing patchy areas of frost. This was mainly true in valleys and sheltered areas because of winds that were still relatively strong.
Thursday night will have a different setup as winds will be much lighter with high pressure moving in. This will create near-perfect conditions for widespread frost and even sub-freezing temperatures.
The National Weather Service has issued Freeze Warnings and Frost Advisories for almost the entire Commonwealth and southern Indiana for late overnight and Friday morning.
