A transmission circuit failure on Thursday morning led to widespread power outages in the eastern Fraser Valley.
B.C. Hydro reported about 20,000 customers were without power in north Langley, along with outages in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Abbotsord, Mission and nearby areas.
Crews had restored power by mid-morning in Abbotsford but thousands of customers, mostly in Langley, were still without power as of 10 a.m.
B.C. Hydro said a crew is headed to the area to work on the circuit failure, which the utility describes as an outage where a “major transmission line is unable to deliver electricity. This could be caused by a variety of factors from a damaged transmission tower to a lightning strike.”
