A 14-year-old girl who was attacked and stabbed near her right eye as she prepared to enter her Notre-Dame-de-Grâce high school knew her assailant, her mother told The Gazette.

He had pursued her and she had rejected his advances, said her mother in an interview at the offices of the Centre for Research-Action on Race Relations on Wednesday. CRARR is helping the woman, who asked to be identified only as Ping, and her daughter deal with the criminal justice system and crime victim assistance programs.
