WorkSafeBC has issued $184,000 in fines to three Victoria employers following a structural collapse that revealed high-risk safety violations.
In September, WorkSafeBc levied a fine against both Bird Construction GP Limited & Bird Construction et al. and Viking Reinforcing Ltd. for $140,209.70 and $36,089.65 respectively.
They also issued a fine to A.R.M. Reinforcing Ltd. for $7,742.91.
All fines were in relation to a construction site where a structural collapse incident occurred. A worker was near the top of a rebar tower with two attached walls, installing hair-pins and removing level bars.
The tower collapsed and the worker fell with it to the ground.
