Moisture Impacts
There are two main factors that heavily influence the timing, length, and vibrancy of the peak fall foliage season each year, one of them being moisture.
Rain is a large factor when it comes to the vibrancy and timing of the fall leaves. When there is a lack of rain throughout the year, and particularly a lack of rain from late summer into the beginning of fall, the lack of saturation can cause the leaves to be dehydrated, which leads to a delayed start to the change in color and muted tones at best.
When trees and leaves are well-saturated, the leaves tend to be on time and more vibrant, leading to longer, prettier fall seasons.
Although the moisture content is important for fall foliage, it is far from the only factor that contributes to the autumn season.
