BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Drivers on Alabama Highway 59 through Baldwin County will soon have to slow down approaching Baldwin Preparatory School as a new school zone is being implemented.

According to an Alabama Department of Transportation news release, school and public safety officials in Baldwin County asked for the change to the speed limits near the school, located in Loxley.

The speed limit approaching the school zone will go down from 65 mph to 55 mph, while the speed limit within the school zone will go down to 40 mph.

The new speed limits will be in effect from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. during morning drop-off and from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. during afternoon pick-up.
