NEW MEXICO (KRQE) — New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver announced her candidacy for Lieutenant Governor of New Mexico on Thursday. The announcement came in a video published on Oliver's website.
Oliver has served as Secretary of State since 2016. According to Oliver's office, her Democratic campaign focuses on the following: • "Confronting the cost-of-living crisis with a bold affordability agenda • Pushing back against Trump’s federal cuts to education and healthcare • Advancing proven solutions to expand housing and coordinate responses to homelessness, behavioral health, and addiction."
Harold Pope Jr. is also running as a Democrat in the Lt. Gov. race, which is slated for Nov. 3, 2026.
