Signal Knob Middle School art teacher Kristin Fiorvanti told her students to stay quiet as she put an incoming phone call on speaker.
On the line was YOBBOS Skate Shop owner Mike McKenzie, who’d been trying to find an artist for a mural on the Strasburg shop’s front wall. Fiorvanti, who’d been looking for a public home for her 8-foot museum panels, thought YOBBOS could be the perfect fit.
When McKenzie mentioned the idea, five eighth-graders leapt from their stools.
“Mike, I hope you don’t mind,” Fiorvanti said. “You’re on speaker, and my kids are jumping up and down. We accept.”
