A Florida community is in mourning after Kennedy Waymer died at the age of 19 last week.
The former high school softball standout and multi-sport athlete died at 19 after a battle with cancer, per PEOPLE.
The publication reported that Kennedy first began to notice something was wrong when she felt a change in her throwing arm in 2024.
“She didn’t want to throw, she’d take days off, and the week before, we were in practice and she could usually make the throw from centerfield to home plate with no problem,” her former softball coach, Steve Brown, said. “She threw a ball, and it barely got to second base. We had her go see the trainer, and she started rehab, and we thought we were getting healthier.”
Kennedy’s discomfort continued, and she was soon diagnosed with bone cancer.
