Aberdeen suffered their worst ever European defeat as AEK Athens ripped the Dons apart in Greece and left them at the foot of the Conference League table.

Jimmy Thelin's side were up against it from the first whistle, with Aboubakary Koïta's first-half brace and Niclas Eliasson's strike putting the hosts three goals up at the break.

Răzvan Marin's overhead kick made it 4-0 before Luka Jovic came off the bench to rifle in the fifth and Dereck Kutesa slotted in the sixth to hand the Reds their biggest European defeat in their history .

Aberdeen last endured a painful defeat of similar nature 16 years ago when Sigma Olomouc ran out 5-1 winners, but that margin had now been surpassed by a dominant Greek side that could have made a painful evening even worse.
