Homicide detectives Thursday were investigating the shooting by at least one sheriff's deputy of a man who had been holed up at a home in Rosemead and was then killed when he allegedly emerged with a rifle.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies responded Wednesday afternoon to a man-in-distress call at a home in the 3000 block of Sullivan Avenue, Lt. Daniel Vizcarra told reporters at the scene.
The man had been threatening to harm himself and family members, so crisis negotiators were dispatched to the scene and began speaking with him, but when it was determined he was possibly armed, the sheriff's Special Enforcement Bureau responded.
