KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City Chiefs rookie Josh Simmons remains away from the team for the third week in a row.

On Thursday, as the Chiefs begin their practice week in preparation for a ‘Monday Night Football’ matchup with the Washington Commanders, the team’s rookie left tackle continues to be absent from practice.

But head coach Andy Reid provided what he deemed an encouraging update on the situation.

“There’s communication,” Reid said of Simmons and his discussions with the organization. “I’m not going to get into all of it. Everything’s positive. It’s not a negative situation. He’s taking care of family.”

Simmons has missed the past two games against the Detroit Lions and Las Vegas Raiders for what the team has called a personal matter.
