CHARLESTON — In late January, a video of a man verbally harassing Latino workers on Sullivan’s Island went viral on social media, prompting shows of both support for the victims and chastisement against all parties.

Now, the man who berated the workers and pretended to speak on behalf of authorities has pleaded guilty to two charges in relation to the incident, showing visible remorse during his sentencing hearing Oct. 23 in Charleston County Circuit Court.

The victims are fearful everyday of further persecution and were too scared to appear in person for the hearing, said an attorney representing their interests.
