A beloved lecturer has been awarded a posthumous PhD at the University of Plymouth nine months on from her murder.
Claire Chick, 48, was killed on January 22 this year by her estranged husband, Paul Butler, 53 , who was described in court as "evil" and "cruel", and was jailed for life back in April.
Ms Chick, a mother and grandmother, as well as a University of Plymouth lecturer, was found seriously injured on West Hoe Road on the evening of January 22 and died from her injuries.
Now, six months on from Butler being jailed, Claire has been awarded the university's highest accolade, a Doctorate of Philosophy, in recognition of a programme of work titled ‘Testing an intervention to develop resilience in student nurses and embed a strategy in undergraduate curricula’.
