RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The special prosecutor appointed to investigate Attorney General candidate Jay Jones’ speeding case has stepped aside from the investigation.
Nathan Green, the Commonwealth Attorney for Williamsburg and James City County, said he has requested to be removed from the case but did not provide a reason.
Green was named to the case just yesterday.
His appointment came after the New Kent Commonwealth’s Attorney asked to be removed from the investigation, citing a potential conflict.
The probe is examining Jones’ 2022 reckless driving conviction. He was caught doing 116 miles per hour in New Kent in a 70-mile-per-hour zone.
The investigation will specifically examine how and if he performed all of his community service with his own political action committee.
