BACKUS — Cass County is reducing the number of inmates it houses in Itasca County.
Cass County Commissioners heard a report from County Administrator Josh Stevenson Tuesday, Oct. 21, regarding recent discussion at the Jail Steering Committee.
Stevenson said recent repairs/replacement of valves and fixtures were conducted in order to begin housing more inmates in Cass County rather than in Itasca County. Cass County plans on reducing their number of contracted beds with Itasca County by 10 next year with a goal of terminating contracts at the end of next year.
Cass County was a funding partner with Crow Wing County when Crow Wing County’s new jail was constructed in 2007 and previously had a contract with Crow Wing County to house inmates in Brainerd, but the Cass County Board chose not
