LINCOLN CITY, Ore. – A 35-year-old Depoe Bay man died late Tuesday night after being struck by a commercial truck as he attempted to cross Highway 101 near Lincoln City on a skateboard, according to the Oregon State Police.
OSP officials said they responded just before 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 to a vehicle versus skateboarder crash on Highway 101 near milepost 121. The skateboarder, identified as 35-year-old Joseph Wesley Tallman, attempted to cross the highway from the eastbound shoulder when he was struck by a northbound Mack commercial truck driven by a 35-year-old Veneta man, police said. Authorities said that the truck driver was unable to avoid the collision.
