KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Two semi trucks crashed into each other head-on near Avenal on Thursday, causing trash and approximately 3,000 pounds of oil to leak on the road.
The Kings County Fire Department responded to the crash at around 6:20 a.m. on Highway 33, north of South 7th Avenue, outside Avenal.
Officials say the crash resulted in the two drivers receiving minor injuries, both of whom declined transport to the hospital. One driver had to be extricated from their truck by Kings County Fire personnel.
As a result of the crash, officials said that approximately 3,000 gallons of crude oil spilled on the road.
HAZMAT responded, and clean-up efforts were underway.
