FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Fresno Fire officials say crews' quick work helped prevent a backyard fire from spreading to a Fresno home.
Officials say crews responded to the area of Hampton Way for calls of a house fire. When crews arrived, officials say a large column of smoke was visible from the street.
Firefighters arrived to find a backyard fire that had spread to a carport, shed, fences, vegetation, and a large pine tree. Officials say that during the incident, overhead power lines were damaged and fell into the involved area, forcing crews to take a defensive approach until PG&E could shut off power.
Crews quickly went to work, stopping the flames before they reached the home or a classic car parked nearby.
