ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man is in custody following an investigation into a kidnapping. According to a criminal complaint, Albuquerque police responded to a call on Wednesday from a woman who said she had been kidnapped and had been told that she had to pay money or would be killed. Police tracked her phone to a home on Old Coors Road near Sunset Gardens.
Officers made contact with the woman along with a group of other people there as well. The woman told police that she had been told to pay $18,000 to be set free. Police said she and the others in the home had made plans to cross the U.S. border. She said she was told that she was not allowed to leave without paying the money.
