Building on a 2024 feasibility study that involved input from nearly 2,000 area residents, the organizers behind the planned Saluda Grade Trail have launched the next phase of gathering input in planning the 31-mile rail trail.
Spartanburg-based PAL: Play, Advocate, Live Well and Hendersonville-based Conserving Carolina are partnering with Blue Ion and Tourism Impact Services to lead this effort involving developing plans to guide both community engagement and economic development for the trail.
The trail will span 31 miles of the decommissioned, historic Saluda Grade rail line and connect communities in northern Spartanburg County in South Carolina to Polk and Henderson counties in North Carolina.
