SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A months-long investigation by the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation unit (FIU) led to the arrests of two Springfield residents early Thursday morning.
According to police, around 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 23, FIU detectives executed a search warrant at an apartment on the 100 block of Massachusetts Avenue.
Detectives had been investigating the illegal distribution of heroin from the address for several months, identifying Brandon Torres as a suspect. After obtaining a search warrant, officers entered the apartment on Thursday morning, where they found Torres, Alicia Ferrer, and several children, ages 3 to 12, inside. The children were released to a family member, police said.
