Susan Lorincz delivered an apology to the late Ajike ‘AJ’ Owens’ loved ones after being convicted of shooting the mother of four in June 2023.

The shocking dispute between Florida neighbors Lorincz and Owens is explored in Netflix’s documentary The Perfect Neighbor, which was released in October 2025. The film chronicles the events leading up to Lorincz fatally shooting Owens through her front door when her neighbor asked to discuss a dispute.

Lorincz initially pleaded not guilty — citing Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground Law,” which allows for deadly force to be used in some situations — but was convicted of manslaughter with a firearm in August 2024. Following her conviction, Lorincz apologized to Owens’ family in a tearful court statement.
