WOOD RIVER, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hall County Agricultural Committee distributed free boxed lunches at Green Plains Ethanol plant in Wood River to the farmers in the local community.

This committee focuses on educating and promoting the economic impact agriculture has in the community. They wanted to show the farmers how much they were appreciated for everything that they do, including taking care of the crops and livestock.

The lunches included a sub sandwich, chips and a candy bar. Organizers said the meals were distributed faster than expected.

“The farmers are always very appreciative,” said Annette Schimmer, a member of the Hall County Agricultural Committee. “It’s not everyday that it happens so they are always excited.”

Schimmer said she plans to pack extra boxes for next year.
