Police say the woman whose body was found in Charles Daley Park Tuesday is the victim of homicide.
In an update Thursday, Niagara Regional Police said that after an autopsy, investigators are now making that classification.
The victim has been identified as a woman from outside the region. Police said they are withholding her identity pending notification of next of kin.
The scene at Charles Daley Park has been examined and the park has been reopened to the public.
Police were called to the park 11 a.m. Tuesday after the remains were discovered. Later, police said the woman is believed to be between 25 and 40 years of age and of South Asian descent.
Detectives with the homicide unit are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
