STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — For college athletes, representing your school on a national stage is a dream come true.

The Penn State Lionettes Dance Team is gearing up for the UDA National in Orlando. This year's trip comes with an extra challenge: funding. Senior Captain of the Lionettes, Nikki Romano, says all 25 team members have to raise thousands of dollars because of university-wide budget cuts.

On Oct. 21, Romano posted a statement on Instagram discussing the task her squad has to face. They have to raise $70,000 dollars to cover travel, accommodations and competition fees.
