COLUMBUS, Ohio — Before he was a Heisman Trophy candidate at Ohio State , quarterback Julian Sayin was starting his collegiate career with Alabama football.
The former five-star prospect signed with the Crimson Tide as the top-rated quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Those in Columbus, including Ohio State general manager Mark Pantoni , weren’t happy with the result.
“We recruited Julian extremely hard,” said Pantoni, who was a guest on coach Ryan Day’s weekly radio show Thursday. “He was top of the board for us out of high school. Obviously, we were disappointed when he chose Alabama.”
