Reflecting on their family business’ origins, the Maisel family raised bottles of Miller High Life to formally open Gulf Distributing Company’s new headquarters and beverage distribution warehouse in the former Mobile Press-Register building Thursday night.

Chairman and COO Elliot Maisel said the company his mother, Freida, founded in 1973, has come a long way from the 1,300-square-foot warehouse on Eslava Street in which it started. Though he initially balked at the idea of moving Gulf Distributing from its previous facility on Moffett Road, Maisel said he is very excited to see the new office open.
