LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - An arrest has been made in a July crash that claimed the life of a Lake Charles man.

Leslie Lewis, 45, of Lake Charles, faces a count of vehicular homicide.

Lewis was the driver in an accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian, 62-year-old Jose Delafosse, Lt. Jeffrey Keenum of the Lake Charles Police Department said.

The accident happened on July 18 in the 2500 block of Broad Street, Keenum said. When officers arrived, they found Delafosse lying on the ground.

Delafosse was taken to a local hospital, where he later died on July 26, Keenum said.

LCPD gave Lewis a toxicology test. Although not suspected at the time, officers determined he was driving under the influence of drugs after receiving the test results, Keenum said.

A warrant was issued for Lewis
