WICHITA, Kan. (KNSW) — Police serving a warrant Wednesday in Russell say they ended up in a foot chase with a suspect that briefly shut down a neighborhood school.
It began around 10:50 a.m. at 11th and Main streets.
In a news release, Russell police said they were trying to serve a warrant for a probation violation and failure to appear when the 26-year-old suspect fled on foot.
More police, the Russell County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol were called in to help run the man down.
A KHP K-9 is credited with tracking the suspect to a nearby bush, where he was taken into custody without further incident, according to the release.
