ATLANTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - After-school and summer programs across Georgia are getting an infusion of money from the state.
The Georgia Department of Education, in partnership with the Georgia Statewide Afterschool Network, is awarding grants totaling more than 11.5 million to three statewide organizations and 60 community-based groups.
As shutdown persists, local food banks brace for higher demand
The government shutdown has reached 23 days, making it the second longest in history, with no signs of ending soon.
Previously funded with American Rescue Plan money, Building Opportunities in Out-of-School Time grants are now state-funded.
Grantees will provide comprehensive programming over the summer months, after school during the academic year or year-round.
