SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man is facing a homicide charge in connection with a shooting involving a relative in Sumner County earlier this week.
According to the affidavit, the Sumner County Emergency Communications Center got a 911 call at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, from a man saying his brother, James Purnell Brinkley Sr., jumped his cousin, Kenneth Phillips, who then shot Brinkley.
Deputies responded to the scene, located in the 1000 block of Rogana Road in Bethpage, and found Brinkley inside the shop with a gunshot wound to the left side of the chest, the back right shoulder and the upper buttocks, per the court documents. Law enforcement reportedly performed life-saving measures until Sumner County EMS arrived, but Brinkley was pronounced dead shortly after 8:30
