MCLEAN COUNTY, Ill. (WMBD) -- The burn ban that has been impacting McLean County is expected to be lifted on Friday.

The Fire Chiefs throughout McLean County are expected to lift the ban on Friday, Oct. 24, a joint press release on the McLean County Emergency Management Agency's Facebook Page said.

Most fields have been harvested or tilled, which helps mitigate the chance of field fires, according to the release.

The Fire Chiefs warn that McLean County is still in a drought, and while the ban has been lifted, there is still a chance of fires spreading quickly.

It is recommended that those who plan burns take precautions to prevent fires from spreading, including: • Selecting a safe location away from buildings, trees, fences and vehicles. • Choose days with safe weather conditions
