Officials identify man found dead during house fire in McDowell County

MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office reports a man was found dead inside a house on fire on Monday.

Deputies said they responded to Lytle Mountain Road, where 57-year-old Michael Wayne Harvey was found dead.

The Sugar Hill, Old Fort, Marion and Glenwood Fire Departments responded to the fire along with the McDowell County Rescue Squad, McDowell County Emergency Services and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, but no foul play is suspected at this time, deputies said.
