Gambling apps have surged in popularity over the last few years.

Nearly 20 million American adults report experiencing at least one problematic gambling behavior “many times” in the past year, according to a survey by the National Council on Problem Gambling.

The NCPG defines gambling addiction as “gambling behavior that is damaging to a person or their family, often disrupting their daily life and career.”

Signs to a gambling addiction include thinking about gambling all the time, feeling the need to bet more money more often, going back to try to win money back and continuing to gamble despite negative consequences.

If you’re hiding the fact that you gamble to your friends and family, do it when you’re stressed and experience mood changes, you may be showing warning signs of a gambling problem.

To gamble safely, experts recommend limiting the time you play, monitoring the money you spend and making sure you’re not using gambling as a coping mechanism.
