PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - About 200 Oregon National Guard members are training for possible deployment in Portland.
For many families, that short notice created significant challenges. Many families had just 72 hours between receiving word of the deployment to having to leave home.
“Yes, a lot more difficult than normal,” said a National Guard spouse who asked not to be identified over safety concerns for her family.
The woman, referred to as Sarah, said she is willing to discuss the difficulties her family faces.
“We just found out I was pregnant before he got deployed, so it’s a lot to go through. 72 hours is not a lot of time to work through those emotions,” Sarah said.
The surprise pregnancy news and 72-hour deployment notice have Sarah working to build new routines at home alone wit
