MCMINN COUNTY, Tenn. — McMinn County is mourning the loss of its Director of Schools, Dr. Julie Goodin, according to a post from the school system.

The school said she passed away unexpectedly, having only taken over as director in July.

"She was an incredibly talented and driven leader who cared deeply about our students, staff, and families," the post said. "Her vision and dedication to strengthening our schools have left a lasting impact on our community. She will be dearly missed."

McMinn County Schools said it understands that the news will bring a range of emotions for many in the community. It said support services would be available for students and staff who need it. The post also said the schools and the district office will be closed on Friday.
