FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — An Arkansas prosecutor has been nominated for a federal attorney role by President Donald Trump.

According to a release from the White House, Crawford County Prosecutor Kevin Holmes was nominated for the role of United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas.

The White House said Oct. 21 that, if the Senate approves the nomination, Holmes will serve a four-year term in the role.

Holmes would replace former attorney Duane "Dak" Kees, who resigned in 2020 to take a job with Tyson. Assistant U.S. Attorney Clay Fowlkes has been in the role on an interim basis ever since .

The nomination was received by the Senate on Tuesday and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, according to Congress.gov.
