New footage shows the moment a gang of burglars escaped from the Louvre on a truck-mounted lift.

In a clip shared online, two individuals – one in a high-vis jacket, the other in a motorbike helmet – are seen on the lift as it slowly descends from the balcony they used to reach the first-floor gallery.

The video appears to have been filmed on a phone from inside the museum. However, it was not picked up by the area’s only surveillance camera because it was facing the wrong direction, according to officials.

Once the lift reached the pavement, the thieves were obscured from view by a temporary wooden fence.

The men are not threatened by anybody, as security guards are heard in the video expressing their frustration.
