PINSON, Ala. —

The man accused of fatally shooting Cleveland High School senior Kimber Mills and injuring three others made his first court appearance Thursday.

Steven Tyler Whitehead , 27, appeared in a Birmingham courtroom from his jail cell, where a judge assigned him a Jefferson County public defender. He will remain in jail without bond until his trial.

Whitehead faces one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder. Investigators allege that he opened fire just after midnight Sunday during a bonfire party in a wooded area of Pinson commonly known as “The Pit."

Videos believed to show the shooting are circulating on social media, including one sent to WVTM 13 that appears to capture moments before the gunfire erupted.
