PHOENIX — Arizonans who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, will not receive benefits in November unless the federal government, which is currently shut down, releases funding for the program.

A statement from the Arizona Department of Economic Security said approved SNAP recipients will be unable to receive benefits in November "until further notice from the USDA."

Senator Ruben Gallego joined 45 colleagues in writing a letter to the US Department of Agriculture Secretary, Brooke Rollins, calling on the department to release "billions of dollars at its disposal" to ensure families can get the benefits they need in November.
