Maybe Murf subconsciously knew what was on the horizon when the band released its third album, Already Dead, last year.

Murf, whose shows are ecstatic, blood-spitting, costume-wearing, Robocop-loving hardcore parties, is calling it a day. The band will play its “final show” — we’ll get into those quotation marks — this week.

Look, there are more profound ways we experience loss than a band breaking up (It happens all the time.) Nonetheless, cultural hubs, artists, and supporters, these come together to define a time and place, the constantly-changing fabric of a city’s culture.
